Lead Me

Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies – make straight your way before me. Psalm 5:8

King David always looked to the Lord to lead Him. No matter how difficult the dilemma, how fierce the foe, how chaotic the conflict, or how precarious the peril, David sought the Lord to make straight His way before him just like today’s passage from the Psalms purports. But David added one more thing to his request; he wanted to be led in God’s righteousness. In other words, he wanted to act in the right way and in a way that was pleasing to God.

We all face difficult situations in our lives. Mine is Early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. It surrounds me every day, it is relentless, it never gives up, it is unforgiving, and it never seems to sleep. That is why I lean on the Lord every single day of my life as I live with this disease. I need His eternal encouragement, promised protection, continued comfort, divine direction, spiritual support, and perfect peace. Like King David, I look to the Lord to lead me by making straight His way through the Alzheimer’s valley.

Perhaps you are facing a difficult diagnosis, serious situation, chaotic conflict, troubling trial, or fierce foe. If so, then let today’s passage be your prayer. Ask God to lead you, to make straight His way, and to help you act righteously as you deal with whatever is facing you today. Look to Him and He will lead you!
