The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. Psalm 145:13b
I am amazed each time I see a rainbow in the sky after rain shower. It stands as a vivid reminder of God’s amazing promise to Noah that He would never again destroy everything on the earth by flooding waters. When I see that rainbow in all its colorful glory stretched out across the sky, I am grateful for Noah’s faithfulness and God’s loving kindness. I often wonder what humanity would be like if Noah had said no to God’s daunting task to build the ark, gather the animals, and close the doors.
The wonderful thing about Noah’s encounter with God is that God fulfilled all His promises! I don’t know about you, but I find this extremely comforting. Even in the midst of all my struggles with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, God is still faithful to all His promises. He meets my every need, comforts me when I’m discouraged, encourages me through His Holy Word, saves me from sin, protects me from my poor decision making, and surrounds me with His love, grace, and mercy every single day!
These are similar to the things King David was proclaiming in the 145th Psalm. In today’s passage from this incredible psalm, David reminds us the Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made. This is an astounding statement because if you are His child, if you belong to Him, and if you confess that He is your God, then He will be faithful to you as well!
Perhaps you are thinking that since I am living with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease that maybe God has not been faithful to me. Nothing could be further from the truth! God remains faithful in my life! He continues to inspire, encourage, protect, comfort, and sustain me in spite of my disease. I cannot begin to imagine living with Alzheimer’s disease without the Help of His Almighty Hands!
If you are struggling today because of some form of dementia, remember that God is faithful in all His promises. Turn to Him in your struggles, make Him the Lord of your life, and become one of His children. Then you will find hope, love, comfort, encouragement, contentment, protection, and sustainment. He will not forsake you. Why? Because He loves you dearly and deeply!
Then, like King David, you can proclaim that He is faithful in all His promises as well.
